In the centre of Jaipur, capital city of Rajasthan in India, there is the famous Jauhari Bazaar or Jeweler’s Market. What any visitor gets to see are the well-lit jewelry-shops filled with gold and silver ornaments. But behind this market in the congested lanes live some one thousand gold-craftsmen who are almost invisible. “Vindhiya’s Building” is one such building housing these Bengali, often muslim master craftsmen & their apprentices. Meet their designers, mold makers, polishers, and recyclers all in one place. Meet a young woman Vindhiya who made, owns and runs the building. A unique story in this city of stones, gems and jewelry.
